Best time to go to Maldives for Holiday and Weather

Best time to visit Maldives for Holiday

You may wonder when is the best time to go to the Maldives. There's never really a 'bad' time to go to the Maldives, which has a wonderful year-round climate – even in the Monsoon season (mid-May–November), It will be still warm, but skies can be cloudy and the humidity is higher during this time. This is the low season, with fewer people and lower prices, with the exception of August.

The high season begins December to April and lasts throughout April, this is the time when the islands enjoy the dry monsoon with hardly any rain and lower humidity while it's winter in Europe. February to April is the hottest period and resorts are almost all operating at capacity during this period. Mid-December to early January comes at even more of a premium due to Christmas and New Year and prices can be expected to be above average. Easter and the Italian holiday week in August also can attract higher prices especially the Italian-oriented resorts.

While diving can be good year-round in the Maldives, it is an agreeable that life on the reef is more varied and visibility better on the western side of the atolls from May to November and from the eastern side of any atoll December to April.

The Weather of Maldives and Climate

The Maldives have a hot tropical climate consisting of two monsoons, the southwest from May to October and the northeast from November to April. Generally the southwest brings more wind and rain in June and July. Daily temperature ranges from around 31°C during the day to 23°C at night. The mean daily maximum temperature for central parts (Male) is 30.5°C and minimum temperature is 25.7°C, the temperature rarely falls below 25°C (77°F) and the highest temperature ever recorded in the Maldives was 36.8c recorded on 19 May 1991.

Maldives Weather

The temperature usually changes very little in the 24 hours of the day. The weather pattern is mainly determined by the two monsoon seasons, in which the winds blow from opposite directions. Heavy rain may occur mainly between May and October. As in most parts of the world, it is impossible to make precise forecasts, but even in the rainy season the sun shines most of the time.
